I have also borrowed the soccer use of 'red cards' and 'yellow cards' for behavior. Every good thought I have is headed your way...keep at it and take time for yourself.Ms. Georgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04256309349416323851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6516000.post-55098815341406017712008-09-24T13:03:00.000-07:002008-09-24T13:03:00.000-07:00Jules, I've been hanging in the woods with 10-year...Jules, I've been hanging in the woods with 10-year-olds and crushing on cute nature guides, so I just got this.

I agree with the others - you need an outlet for this stress. I vote massage. I had one just before school started and it was the best.

And don't discount the blog as cheap therapy.

We're all here for you.

{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6516000.post-82330174080618307732008-09-23T22:54:00.000-07:002008-09-23T22:54:00.000-07:0017 said it better than I could. Take out your roll book and start jotting down notes"

I'm laughing so hard at this comment, because this is EXACTLY what I do. I never sit, so the kids quickly learn that when I do, nothing good will follow.

One year, I had a very difficult class. On a particularly rough day, I sat down and just glared at them. One boy looked at my face and said, "Look out- SHE'S GONNA BLOW!!" and at least 10 kids dove under their desks.

I never laughed so hard in my life-and the kids and I got along famously after that incident.

Jules- you took on too much life change at one time. Find a counselor, indulge yourself, and rest. It will all fall into place- it's just going to take time.17 (really 15) more yearshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05136846071554141284noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6516000.post-79861388544507295702008-09-22T21:12:00.000-07:002008-09-22T21:12:00.000-07:00Something is not right, and it's not you. You are stressed.

You have to get out of school early and get a massage or something nice for yourself.

We have read blogs from many teachers who cried the first year. I cried many a time when I had a bad class, but I worked on the discipline and things fell into place by the time winter rolled around. Be tough! Be strong! Don't work hard, work smart.

When a class acts up, don't try to talk over them, just stop what you are doing and sit down. Then hand them out!

Keep a record of what you sent.

If you have to spend the full period doing this, don't be afraid to do it. It worked for me.Schoolgalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02327692336247705060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6516000.post-51831217097395609332008-09-22T19:49:00.000-07:002008-09-22T19:49:00.000-07:00At least you can still write about it!
