Lake Atitlan

Tropical paradise

When I arrived at Panajachel, the first thing I did was go kayaking on Lake Atitlan! No fancy boat or safety instructions, just here's a ratty lifesaver and a battered kayak, be back in an hour and don't go too far. It was beautiful. The sun was warm, the water was cool. It felt nice to give my lower body a rest after all the walking and climbing I'd done at Tikal.
Later that day, I zipped across a series of cables strung over the forest of a nature reserve just outside the town. That was an insane adrenaline rush, and the view of the treetops and lake in the distance were amazing!
